"Ping, Ping, Ping, Ping...."

Hunters are hunting

I started a work on picture inspirated by book of Lothar Gunter Buchheim - Das Boot

Model is based on my volumetric model created in 3D-Coat and retopo

Sweather has been done in C4D (SPD+Hair, own textures)

http://www.c4dlounge.eu/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=1064&stc=1&d=1250702642

http://www.c4dlounge.eu/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=1065&stc=1&d=1250702700

Crits and suggestions are welcome

Lightning, I suppose it is a finally lightning look

What will be next, a cap, uniform, Hairs and Hair, eyes etc...

1) I did really simple basic mesh (of top cap part) in C4D

2) I have imported it to 3DCoat as a volumetric object

3) I did a shape (3DC)

4) I did a retypo

5) export retypo back to C4D

6) adjusted in C4D - voila, mesh is finished

Hello Marijn
I´m really glad you like it becouse you and some other guys (Alberto Blasi, Mnu, Per...) are my gurus :-)

Hard to say, becouse I spent a lot of time by searching of suitable texture. And I was not succefull (as I wrote before, I´m still looking for texture for bottom part - there is a shdaer only).

Modeling task was pretty easy, It took cca 2-3 hours (base mesh - 3DC and back). Some took fine touching (of model), cca 2 hours. I did some other models as well, a flag is modeled just now for example.

Time eaters were materials - a flag - shaders, bottom parts - shaders, gold studs (shaders + textures) etc... Really I don´t know a whole time. I worked on that after one week in this update for example, cca 4 hours. Up to 2,5 hours I tried to find some texture :-(

Very nice work! On thing I noticed is the spot above the eyebrow - there seems to be a bit of skin "popping out" where I would expect it to move towards the skull. But maybe there's a reason for this (or it's because of the perspective).

Really looking good :) Maybe if you make the ears a bit larger he could be a little better. We people guess age by looking at the eyes in relationship to the nose and ears. Nose and ears keep on growing with age, the eyes don't. In other words if you make that ear slightly larger, he'll look older :)

Amazing shaders, pzdm. A-M-A-Z-I-N-G.
My only crit would be towards the eyes of your character. I think they are to elliptical, to far apart and "pop out" a little to much... a pic in full front perspective would be nice.
Besides that, you´re doing a wonderful job and it will be nice to follow your progress.

Thanks a lot for your workflow/pipeline tutorial video over at the 3dc forum - very helpful :)

Before I took some time to tell you something about the skull and the eyes. No response, ok you are the master.
Now I see the ears and the upperlip, why? Just some clicks at Google will show you the right way.
Here is an ear, I can send you the 3d-file if you can use it. Take a mirror or put your finger in your ear to feel how the shape has to go. Not to much because you do not hear things to help you ;-)

Hello Mazur

we say, in my country, "stay in quiet"....

I will be back in few hours and I will write a response for you.

But first. I teach on school of art, my students have wide expirience with painting and sculpting and I have few friends between them. I used one of them for anatomy crits, and he does not problem with ears.

1) Ahhh, you are really cool artist, but pretty hot head :-) I see.

2) Again, I'm not an expert, thus I ask always somebody who has better expirience in different tasks. I'm not an artist, I'm a simple editor only....

Go back to this thread and you see I improved almost evrything what users critised. Yeah, I did not see wat you said, I did not upgraded it...

If I take an ear. You have a right in cca 60% (for me), your example what you have posted before is a bit "to blurred" for me. But some details could be better. I will check them again.

Ok, back to my wife and kid. I hope I will find some hour for a modeling this week.

You do realise not a single ear is the same as an other, right?

When i saw the ear i'd say it could use an earlob, which is something you didn't point out while you see something else, which already proves my point about ears.

It's pretty much like breats :-p (i picked htat part because everyone get's the point)
there are big ones tight ones small ones big nipple small nipples oversized ones brown ones white ones , the oens ya see the vains and so on and on and on, if ya want i can go for pictures on google to illustrate it :-p

I do agree with the line arround the mouth, but i think it does add up to the volume of the face as well so i'm not sure whether he should fix it or not i kinda like the head as it is right now. But if i would be looking in the mirror and see that head i'd shoot myself ;)

First of all. It seems to be we want the same, a nice image. If you and others like it the way it is, no problems.
I just see mistakes in a wip in wich you put a lot of energy.
Unfortunately this is not understood by people calling me 'really cool artist, hot head' joined with other funny reactions. I am not an artist, but a beginner like all artists should be. Call me an observer or a worker.
You started your wip full of flair and knowledge with the words 'sugestions and crits - fire on me!', wich I did as the only one :-@ Please forgive me not joining the oooh's and aaah's. It's nothing personal with you or the others.

But for now, let's focus on the eyes only.
The upper eyelid never make a wrinkle like that in the outer corner. This wrinkle is made by the hanging skin above it.
The part where the upper- and lower eyelid meets in the outer corner, is not so sharp (take the mirror)
Above the eye, it looks like a swollen eye after a fighting. Normal this skin hangs down under the eybrow. There are not strong muscles under it, just some fat. Maybe when people are real fat, this part will pop out a bit. But gently from the skullbone above the eye (eyebrow).

Later I will ask you how you did it and I will learn.

if I see your responses nd work it looks you really understand your work :-) but it looks ("it looks" it does not mean you must be) you are really hot head. Nothning against you, somebody is "cold and slow" others are different.
